Strapping-and trussing equipment for long materials, e.g. wooden sections, includes memory controlling dimensions and strapping locations

Machinery is described for strapping lengthy rectangular goods. Wooden trusses (6-9) are placed around and against the piece to be packed (4). These are produced by a fully automatic unit (10) from any length of material (3). The machine (12) adds surrounding strapping (11). A further, rising and falling strapping unit (15), forms a binding (13) for the trussing (6, 7, 8). The order of strapping may be reversed. Strapping positions (16) on the packaged pieces (4), and dimensions of the trussing sections made by the unit (10), are determined using data stored in memory.
