Protecting device for electronic chip containing confidential data

The protection is provided by a protective surface (1) placed over the part of the chip carrying confidential data, and is connected to a protection circuit (3,11,5) which detects an electrical attack on the protective surface. The protective circuit then destroys the confidential data, activating the supply (10) to the chip if needed to destroy the data.
