PURPOSE: To provide cathode material improving the capacitance and cycling property and a battery using it. CONSTITUTION: A disk-like positive electrode 22 contained in an exterior can 21 and a disk-like cathode 24 contained inside an exterior cup 23 are laminated via a separator 25. In the cathode 24, composite material with carbonaceous material is contained compressed while applying shearing force in at least one part of the surface of base material containing at least one type of the group 14 element compounds except carbon and the capacitance and the cycling property are improved.
