The invention provides a tetrakis(fluoroaryl) borate/ether complex, a process for preparing the same, and a process for preparing a tetrakis(fluoroaryl)borate derivative (Ar4BZ) by using the ether complex and the compound capable of generating monovalent cationic species as starting compounds. The ether complex can be easily purified to a high purity and hence is suitable as an intermediate for the preparation of various tetrakis(fluoroaryl)borate derivatives.
