A camera comprises a drive motor coupled to a power transmission mechanism having a pair of output members which are oppositely rotatable and, by manual operation of a zoom control, can be selectively coupled to the input number of a zoom lens system so as to rotate said member in a corresponding direction to adjust the magnification. As shown in Fig. 1, electric motor 14 drives, through friction clutch 20, a shutter 22 and reduction gearing having oppositely rotating output gears 42, 44 which, by movement of zoom controlled arm 48, can be selectively coupled to gear 46 meshing with the input gear 52 on the zoom lens. When arm 48 is in neutral position, the magnification can be manually adjusted by rotating ring 53, integral with gear 52. The shutter is normally braked at 24, this brake being released and a switch 28 in the motor circuit being closed on operation of shutter release 26. In a second embodiment, the zoom control arm is arcuate and carries two gears for meshing with the output gears 42, 44. Further, the zoom control arm is coupled to another switch, in parallel with switch 28, whereby the motor circuit is closed on operating the zoom control arm, even though member 26 has not been actuated to release the shutter. |
