A universal definition part (1) is provided in a device-independent, standardized format, and stores all parameters of the electronic device that are required for communication, function and configuration, as well as parameters identifying the electronic device. A device-specific definition part can be automatically generated from the universal definition part. An Independent claim is included for a bus system.
