PURPOSE: A direct light emitting flat light source is provided to achieve improved optical characteristics, while preventing a leakage of current from the lead wire. CONSTITUTION: A direct light emitting flat light source comprises a lamp assembly(20) including lamps(10) and a conductive plate(25) connected to a lead wire(40) connected to a power supply so as to supply an electrical energy to the lamps; a fixing member(70) arranged in parallel with the lamps, in the vicinity of the end of the conductive plate, wherein the fixing member has a reflective surface(71) for reflecting the light emitted from the lamps and a lead wire accommodating groove for accommodating the lead wire; a diffusion plate(50) arranged in the vicinity of the lamp assembly such that the diffusion plate diffuses the light emitted from the lamps; and a frame for accommodating the lamp assembly, fixing member and the diffusion plate, wherein the frame has a window(63) arranged at the surface of the frame contacting the diffusion plate. The lead wire accommodating groove has a lead wire guide for separating the lead wire from the frame and supporting the lead wire.
