In the production of grain whisky, suspended grain solids are separated from a liquor to give a spent liquor from the still having a ratio of dissolved to suspended grain solids therein not less than 3:1 and the solids reduced spent liquor is evaporated to recover the grain solids therefrom. The suspended grain solids may be separated from the wort after mashing, from weak alcoholic liquor after a whole-mash fermentation or actually from the stillage (spent liquor and draff) from the still.
