1,037,864. Heel attaching machines. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. May 9, 1963 [May 15, 1962], No. 18314/63. Heading A3B. A heel attaching machine has a presser head which has a tread abutment adjustable heightwise of a shoe and about an axis transverse of a shoe, and a back clamp which is adjustable lengthwise and about an axis transverse of a shoe. The presser head 38 is detachably mounted on a piston rod 44 for heightwise movement to press a heel 20 against a shoe 22. The tread abutment 96 is mounted, for adjustment about a transverse axis, in an arcuate guideway 98 in a rod 94 which is adjustable heightwise by means of a knurled nut 100. Similarly the back clamp 130 is mounted in an arcuate guideway in a block 114 which is adjustable lengthwise by a screw 122 having a knurled end 120. The two halves of the back clamp 130, are mounted on opposite ends of a screw 132 having opposite threads at each end, thus allowing the spacing of the clamps to be adjusted by rotating knurled wheel 134 (Fig. 5, not shown). |
