METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING GRAPHIC CHARACTER MESSAGE SERVICE

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus are provided to allow users to transmit or receive graphic character messages in an easy and convenient manner. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a transmitting/receiving unit(301) for transmitting the edited graphic character message or the request for transmission of graphic character and identification information to the graphic character message server, and receiving the graphic character from the graphic character message server; a graphic character storing unit(302) for storing the images of the graphic character and identification information; an input unit(305) of inputting graphic character request information, text information, and selection information for selecting graphic characters included in the graphic character message from among the graphic characters stored in the graphic character storing unit; a display unit(304) for displaying the graphic character information stored in the graphic character storing unit; and a message editing unit(303) for providing the request information input from the input unit to the transmitting/receiving unit, providing the graphic character information stored in the graphic character storing unit to the display unit, providing the graphic character message to the display unit, and transmitting the graphic character message to the graphic character message server.
