The tap for controlling the flow of a gas comprises a body (10), an interior opening and closing gas passage part and an exterior rotating operating wheel (16). The operating wheel is fixed by a screw (18) to a connection rod (20) which is screwed in the upper part of the body. A stop (24) and a counter stop (22) limit the opening movement of the operating wheel. The angular position of the stop is adjustable to ensure mutual contact between it and the counter stop. An Independent claim is included for a method of assembling the tap.
