PURPOSE: A device for preventing a broadcasting program from being repeatedly recorded and a device therefor are provided to decide whether a broadcasting program to be recorded with additional information is prestored on a recording medium before executing a broadcasting program recording mode, and to control the broadcasting program not to be repeatedly recorded, thereby preventing the same broadcasting program from being repeatedly stored. CONSTITUTION: A broadcasting receiver selects a broadcasting signal only of a channel selected by a channel control signal, and demodulates the selected broadcasting signal. An additional information storage(107) stores additional information separated from the broadcasting signal received from the broadcasting receiver. An HDD(Hard Disk Drive)(111) stores a broadcasting program. A controller(106) controls according to an inputted key command, and reads the additional information of the broadcasting program to be recorded before executing a recording mode. If title information of the broadcasting program is stored on the HDD(111), the controller(106) compares summary information of the additional information of the broadcasting program read from the additional information storage(107) with summary information of the additional information of the program stored on the HDD(111). If an according rate is more than a threshold value, the controller(106) does not execute the recording mode.
