PURPOSE: A device and a method for a remote control module of a computer are provided to get a command to control the computer from a DTMF(Dual Tone Multi Frequency) signal received through a telephone line and transmit the command to the computer through a serial communication interface. CONSTITUTION: A telephone line interface(12) converts/outputs the DTMF signal received through the telephone line into a voltage level recognizable to a controller(11). An amplifier(13) amplifies/filters/outputs the signal from the telephone line interface. An ADC(Analog Digital Converter)(14) converts/outputs an analog signal from the amplifier into a digital signal. The controller extracts a remote control command of the DTMF signal by analyzing the digital from the ADC, controls a relay(16) depending on the remote control command, or generates/outputs a message for the remote control command to a serial communication interface(15). The relay generates a reset signal or a power on/off signal. The serial communication interface converts the message of the controller into a format fit to a serial communication interface standard, and transmits it to the computer(100).
