An applicator for applying adhesive to surfaces comprises a chamber having a wall adapted to overlie such surfaces, at least one orifice in the wall, a flexible member within said chamber including a portion overlying but normally spaced from said orifice, means for applying adhesive under pressure to said chamber between said flexible member and said wall whereby the adhesive flows through the orifice, and means to cause said flexible member to flex whereby the orifice is closed against the flow of adhesive therethrough. In the described embodiment, the flexible member is of rubber, formed with a projection overlying each of a number of orifices, and means are provided for admitting adhesive between the rubber and the orifices, and for admitting air under pressure to the other side of the rubber member when it is desired to close the orifices. |
