PURPOSE: A device for processing voice modes of a source device and a display device used when transmitting a voice signal through an optical fiber is provided to transmit mode information of a voice signal to a display apparatus during a blanking period, and to enable the display apparatus to parse/recognize the mode information, thereby sharing voice mode information by the source device and the display device connected through an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: A voice mode decider(200) decides mode information of a voice signal transmitted to a display device. An optical signal transmitter(201) monitors whether video information is generated, and outputs an enable signal during a blanking period without the video information. A multiplexer(202) outputs a selection signal to transmit voice mode information during an enable signal period from the optical signal transmitter(201). A voice mode transmission controller(203) transmits the decided voice mode information to the optical signal transmitter(201) according to the selection signal outputted from the multiplexer(202).
