PURPOSE: A screen for a color cathode ray tube and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to achieve improved aperture ratio and color purity, while reducing manufacturing procedures and defective ratio. CONSTITUTION: A screen comprises an R-phosphor screen(22R), a G-phosphor screen(22G), and a B-phosphor screen(22B) which are formed at a predetermined spacing and pattern on the inner surface of a panel(21) with a black matrix(251) interposed between the inner surface of the panel and the phosphor screens. The black matrix serves to separate adjacent phosphors from each other, and the black matrix has a thickness of 20 to 110% of the phosphor screen. A method for manufacturing a screen comprises a step of forming phosphor screens by depositing a phosphor slurry on a panel and performing an exposure and development process; a step of forming an intermediate screen on the phosphor screens; a step of forming a black matrix by depositing a graphite on the intermediate screen and performing an exposure and development process; and a step of forming a reflective screen on the phosphor screens and the black matrix formed on the panel.
