PURPOSE: To provide a camera-integrated recording and reproducing apparatus with which stable photographing at various camera angles and photographing lasted for a long time but causing less fatigue can be attained. CONSTITUTION: A lens unit 1 and a main body casing 2 are placed in series, a grip unit 3 is placed at a side face 2b of the main body casing 2 and a liquid crystal monitor 4 is located at a side face 2c opposed to the side face 2b, and the grip unit 3 incorporates a recording and reproducing unit 3 and is turnably located in the main body casing 2. Further, a front end 3a of the grip unit 3 is rear-mounted with respect to the rear end of a lens group 1D, and the rear end 3e is placed behind an imaging element 5A. Moreover, faces of the main body casing 2 and the grip unit 3 of the lens unit 1 within their turnable range are formed to be recessed faces 1F, 2A. In addition, it is possible to load or unload a recording medium 9 by opening a top face 3d of the grip unit 3 resulting from manually opening an opening / closing cover 3C outwardly while a hand is inserted between the opening / closing cover 3C of the grip unit and a grip belt 12 to hold the opening / closing cover 3C.
