PURPOSE: A method for improving digital image quality and a device therefor are provided to make a brightness value darker if the brightness value of an observed pixel is included in a dark background region, and to make the brightness value brighter if the brightness value is included in a bright background region, then to obtain a new brightness value, thereby quickly improving contrast. CONSTITUTION: A system sets a parameter 'Vb' for obtaining an X1 value, a parameter 'Vp' for obtaining an X2 value, and initial values of the X1 and the X2 values(S10). The system compares size of a brightness value 'Xij' and the parameter 'Vb', resets the parameter 'Vb', compares size of the brightness value 'Xij' and the parameter 'Vp', and resets the parameter 'Vp'(S30). The system divides background regions by compared results, and performs a contrast improving process for pixels included in the background regions(S40). The system decides whether an observed pixel is a final pixel of an observed line(S60). If not, the system returns to the step of comparing the size of the 'Xij' and the 'Vb'. If the observed pixel is the final pixel, the system updates the X1 value, and updates the X2 value by using the 'Vp'(S70). The system decides whether the observed pixel is to process image quality improvement(S90). If not, the system returns to the step of comparing the size of the 'Xij' and the 'Vb'. |
