The safety valve for a gas cylinder or a pipe connected to it has a casing with a longitudinal bore which has a small diameter section (1b) and a larger diameter section (1a). A plug (5) is mounted in the larger section which ruptures when the pressure on it exceeds a fixed value and has a fusible plug (3) is mounted above it with a plug (4) between them which moves if the plug fuses but the disk has not ruptured. Independent claims are included for: a tap fitted with the valve;a gas cylinder fitted with the valve; anda pipe conveying gas under pressure which is fitted with the valve.
