The process for obtaining information includes a stage (28) of transmission of a request, and reception of data by the terminal in response to the request. The process includes further stages (20,22,24) of acquisition and storage within the reception terminal of the address of the audiovisual contents description server. The process for obtaining information includes a stage (28) of transmission of a request, from a reception terminal, for information from a least one server holding descriptions of audiovisual contents. This is followed by a reception stage in which data is received by the terminal in response to the request. The process includes further stages (20,22,24) of acquisition and storage within the reception terminal of at least one initial request comprising the address of the audiovisual contents description server, and a stage (26) of generating the request with respect to the initial request which has previously been stored. The information which is obtained by this technique includes description of the contents, but also the date and time of transmission of the audiovisual program, and the date and time of the information request.
