PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the component of spontaneous emission of a variable wavelength semiconductor laser light source. SOLUTION: A total reflection mirror 15, a bandpass filter 14, a semiconductor laser 31 of which both end faces are applied with a non-reflection film, an etalon 33, and a half mirror 34, are arranged in this order to constitute an external resonance laser. A resonant wavelength is selected by controlling the angle of the bandpass filter 14 with a rotary table 14a. Thus, the transmission light of the half mirror 34 is taken as an output light to provide a laser beam of single mode oscillation in which the component of spontaneous emission is suppressed.
