PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce size and weight by reducing a power required for switching from braking to non-braking excellent in magnetic efficiency. SOLUTION: The eddy current reduction gear is of "magnet pole surface counter type". It is provided with an attraction detecting means which detects an attractive force that occurs between a braking disc and a permanent magnet. The permanent magnet sets a first set value or a second set value according to a braking position. If a detected value by the attraction detecting means is equal to or higher than the set value, the permanent magnet shifts to a non-braking position or keeps the non-braking position. As a means for directly or indirectly detecting the attraction, a tachometer that measures the rotational number of the brake disc, a displacement gauge for measuring the amount of displacement of a support plate of the gear, a load cell provided to a piston rod, or vehicle speed sensor may be used.
