PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation transmission nondestructive inspection apparatus and a radiation transmission nondestructive inspection method in a hollow cylindrical member that can improve the resolution of an image by transmitted radiation, reduce the influence of difference in thickness in a peripheral direction, reduce concentration gradient in the image, automatically and efficiently photograph the whole, and accurately inspect even a thick member. SOLUTION: The radiation transmission nondestructive inspection apparatus comprises a rotary table 12 for rotating the hollow cylindrical member 1 with the axis center as a center; a shielding apparatus 14 for shielding the hollow cylindrical member against radiation; a radiation source 16 for radiating radiation toward the hollow cylindrical member; and a radiation detector 18 for measuring the intensity distribution of radiation that is transmitted through the hollow cylindrical member. The shielding apparatus 14 has slits 15a, 15b at positions that oppose the outer and inner surfaces so that only one portion of the hollow cylindrical member is exposed to radiation. Additionally, the shielding apparatus is installed toward the radiation source so that the radiation is transmitted through the outer and inner slits. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
