PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for heating a raw material having a large capacity without necessity of a large space in the apparatus and without necessity of a special heat source. SOLUTION: The apparatus for heating the raw material of the plastic molding machine includes a heating barrel 20 of a plastic molding machine, a heater 23 provided on the outer periphery of the barrel 20, a raw material supply unit 24 provided above the barrel 20, and a cover 33 for covering together with the supply unit 24 and the barrel 20, and heats the supply unit 24 by utilizing the heat radiated from the heater 23 to preheat the raw material.
