The transmission for a motor vehicle comprises a main transmission and an auxiliary transmission with an auxiliary power take-off. A countershaft (5) integrated into the auxiliary transmission unit (3) provides the drive for the auxiliary power take-off and is connectable to the drive shaft (1) and/or output shaft (2) of the transmission via a sliding sleeve unit (6), whereby the auxiliary power take-off can be driven independently of the operating state of the vehicle.
