PURPOSE: To provide a gas discharge display device which can make the range of color reproduction wide, prevents the reflection of outside light due to illumination without reducing the brightness(luminance) and enables the enhancement of contrast ratio. CONSTITUTION: An optical filter 101a on an optical filter part 101 which is a constituent element of the gas discharge display device 100 has an absorption region selectively absorbing the light in the range from the wavelength 550nm to 620nm thereon. Therein, the transmissivity TP at the absorption peak in the absorption region falls in the range of 20% - 60% of the average transmissivity TV in the visible light region.
