PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent protrusion of a welding tab from the abutting surface of a magnetic tape cartridge wherein a single reel on which a magnetic tape is wound is rotatably housed when the cartridge case is formed by ultrasonically welding upper and lower cases on the abutting surface. SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of welding EDs (energy directors) 15 disposed on the abutting surface has an elongated shape and and arranged at a right angle to the direction of the sidewall of the abutting surface 13 of the upper and the lower cases.
