PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expandable antenna unit for a personal digital assistant without need of any rod metal fittings at the top portion of the antenna. SOLUTION: A slidable extension element PI is disposed on the tip of the rod antenna element. When the rod antenna is housed into the case of the personal digital assistant, the extension element is slid to form a reduced total length, while, when the rod antenna is extracted from the case, the extension element is slid to form an extended total length. In the antenna unit for the personal digital assistant having the above structure, an extension element PI2 has a horn-shaped end opposite to the end connected to a rod antenna element NT. This open end is covered with a lid LD formed of a plate member, and further a resin is molded so as to wrap around the lid. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
