PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communicating structure between crankcases of a multiple cylinder engine, capable of strengthening axial force of a fastening bolt without influencing the strength of a journal supporting wall. SOLUTION: In this multiple cylinder engine, the half body 3a of an upper crankcase is successively provided in a cylinder block 1 having cylinder sleeves 2, 2 connected in series, a crank journal 5j is supported by the upper and lower journal supporting walls 17, 18 formed on the half body 3a of the upper crankcase and the half body 3b of a lower crankcase, and the both supporting walls 17, 18 are fastened by a pair of fastening bolts 20 disposed so as to sandwich the crank journal 5j. A bleeding hole 23 communicating between the adjacent crankcases 22, 22 is provided in a region surrounded by a cylinder sleeve 2 and the pair of fastening bolts 20 in the upper journal supporting wall 17.
