PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new IPA alternative concentrated dampening water containing completely no IPA in which such problems as filling-up of ink to a water rod, peeling-off of an ink feeding roller, and stop staining are improved. SOLUTION: The present invention is characterized by comprising a compound of formula (I), a polyglycerin of formula (II) and a propylene glycol monomethyl ether propylene oxide adduct of formula (III) as essential components. In formula (I), x is an integer of 1-80 and y is an integer of 1-20. In formula (II): HO-CH<SB>2</SB>CH(OH)CH<SB>2</SB>O-(CH<SB>2</SB>CH(OH)CH<SB>2</SB>O)<SB>n</SB>-CH<SB>2</SB>CH(OH)CH<SB>2</SB>-OH, n is a number of 0-5.
