PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method in which whether or not an ink jet head before incorporated in a printer or the like is good can be simply and surely judged at low costs, and a device therefor. SOLUTION: The inspection device includes a vibrating plate 7, a pressure-reducing chamber 21 in which the ink jet head 1 of an electrostatic driving system with an air gap 14 formed and sealed by an electrode 16 set opposite to the vibrating plate 7 is stored, driving means 22, 23 and 24 for bringing the pressure-reducing chamber 21 into a pressure reduction or pressurization environment or into an atmospheric pressure environment, and a judging means for judging whether or not the ink jet head 1 is good under the pressure reduction or pressurization environment or under the atmospheric pressure environment. In the method, whether or not the ink jet head 1 is good is judged by placing the ink jet head under the pressure reduction or pressurization environment or under the atmospheric pressure environment.
