An apparatus and a method for measuring print quality in a printing press used in newspaper production, wherein the measuring apparatus measures several parallel reflection profiles extending in the longitudinal direction simultaneously across the entire width of a paper web and the measurement results of the measuring apparatus are used for the detection of waste and for the adjustment of inking in the printing press in real time.
