PURPOSE: An electro-mechanical brake system with fail-safe function is provided to pull over the vehicle safely by directly controlling braking force of a wheel brake with a brake actuator and by braking with controlling rpm and torque of a motor in failure of the brake system from wrong operation of a pedal stroke displacement sensor during traveling at high speed, and to prevent collision by displaying the emergency state with operating an emergency lamp by receiving a driving signal from an electro-mechanical brake control unit. CONSTITUTION: An electro-mechanical brake system comprises a pedal stroke displacement sensor(2), a brake lamp switch(14), an electro-mechanical brake control unit(12), a main control box(13), a brake actuator(15), an emergency lamp(16) and an actuator. The electro-mechanical brake control unit performs fail-safe function by receiving signals from the pedal stroke displacement sensor and the brake lamp switch in abnormally operating the electro-mechanical brake system from wrong operation of the pedal stroke displacement sensor during high speed traveling, and the main control box brakes by controlling rpm and torque of a motor of a vehicle with receiving the control signal from the electro-mechanical brake control unit. The brake actuator controls braking force of the vehicle by receiving the driving signal from the electro-mechanical brake control unit, and the emergency lamp displays the emergency state of the vehicle by receiving the driving signal from the electro-mechanical brake control unit.
