<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out highly reliable toner residue quantity detection and to detect whether toner is surely replenished or not. <P>SOLUTION: A signal which is induced by a detecting member 11 according to the applied AC bias value is sampled many times. The sampled value and the specified predetermined value are compared and a case that the sampled value is smaller than the specified value is set as a first state. When the percentage (%) of frequency of the first state in the number of times for one sampling is more than D1(%), it is judged that the toner residue quantity in the developer container 9 is less than the specified value. Furthermore, by varying the percentage (%) of the frequency of the first state in the number of times for one sampling to D2(<D1)(%), toner residue detection with high reliability can be carried out and whether or not the toner is surely replenished can be detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
