<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reading the image of a plurality of copies of documents at the same time and storing the image data of the originals so that the image data are divided. <P>SOLUTION: In the apparatus, when the documents are set in a document tray in an automatic document feeder, inter-sheets P formed by a whole black image are inserted between the plurality of copies of documents and an image reader reads the image with the sheets P inserted.
