PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber treating agent making fiber have good durability and exhibit moisture retention, water absorptivity, hygroscopicity, antistatic property and wound healing property. SOLUTION: The fiber treating agent is applied to treating the surface of fiber and contains a soluble shell membrane and a reactive organic compound having a reactive group or an organic compound having sticking tendency. If fiber is treated with the agent of this composition, the treated fiber is not removed the shell membrane even when used for a long term and so properties of the shell membrane are kept and, thereby, good durability is kept and moisture retention, water absorptivity, hygroscopicity, antistatic property and wound healing property are continuously exhibited.
