PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust attachment errors of an image shake compensation means and the operation resistance of the image shake compensation means while a compensating optical device has been assembled. SOLUTION: The compensating optical device having the image shake compensation means which reduces a shake of an image caused by oscillation applied to an imaging system due to movement in a plane orthogonal to an optical axis is provided with a position limiting means for limiting the position of the image shake compensation means by moving in the direction of the optical axis of the imaging system and an adjustment means for adjusting a limiting force of the position limiting means.
