PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronizing signal separating device for correctly separating a synchronizing signal from a composite video signal. SOLUTION: The device separates the synchronizing signal by including a peak voltage comparing means 105 for comparing the peak voltage of the synchronizing signal with a voltage threshold; a first synchronizing signal separating means 107 for separating the synchronizing signal from the composite video signal based on the peak voltage; a separation synchronizing signal amplifying means 108 for amplifying the separated synchronizing signal; a synchronizing signal adding means 109 for adding the amplified synchronizing signal to the composite video signal; and a second synchronizing signal separating means 110 for separating the synchronizing signal from the composite video signal with the synchronizing signal added by the synchronizing signal adding means 109.
