摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of connecting a transmission cable by which electric fields generated by both signal wires become approximately symmetrical, resutlting in uniform crosstalk between both signal wires and the reduction of near-end crosstalk, and characteristic impedance also becomes uniform by making uniform the distance between the drain wire and the signal wires, and to provide a connector. SOLUTION: When the transmission cable 1 equipped with a pair of signal wires 3 and a drain wire 9 is connected with a connector 17, the pair of signal wires 3 are distributed to the upper face and the lower face of a signal contact 21 and connected each other. The drain wire 9 is easily inserted for connection against an elastic force into a clamp 37 formed between tops of upper and lower terminals 27, 29 which have arm shapes having elastic forces and compose a ground contact 25. The inserted drain wire 9 is not easily disconnected due to the erastic forces of the upper and lower terminals 27, 29. Since the drain wire 9 is connected with the clamp 37 arranged approximately in the center in the vertical direction, current routes flowing from the two signal wires 3 to the ground are made uniform. Consequently, the near-end crosstalk is reduced, and the deviation of characteristic impedance of each signal wire 3 at the connector connecting part is eliminated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
