PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is robust and easily incorporated into an appliance by disposing a light source substrate so as not to be damaged by a liquid crystal display unit and making light from the light source not to directly leak on a display surface. SOLUTION: A belt-shaped wiring substrate 31 with an opaque reinforcing plate 32, disposed on an upper surface of a light guide plate 4 adjacent to an end part thereof is used as the light source substrate. A terminal part 51 of the liquid crystal display unit 5 is placed on the wiring substrate 31 of the light source. Also a wiring line 33 of a light-emitting element 2 which is the light source and a wiring line 53 of the liquid crystal display unit 5 are taken out in the same direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
