PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in a conventional method wherein the plate surface is formed into a substantially M-shaped section in order to provide parts for guiding and retaining a needle-like roller in the radially inner and outer parts of a retainer, but the work of forming the plate surface of the retainer for thrust needle-like roller bearing in M-shape is difficult in the use of a short needle-like roller. SOLUTION: Even if the radial length of the needle-like roller 4 is relatively short, one metal plate is punched in circumferentially equally arranged positions and radially prescribed positions of a retainer body 6 so as to leave the corresponding parts of a first roller stopper piece 11 and a second roller stopper piece 12, whereby each pocket 7 can be formed. Accordingly, the formation of each pocket 7 is facilitated, and the first roller stopper piece 11 and the second roller stopper piece 12 are easily formed only by bending these corresponding parts.
