PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode for electrolytic synthesis for enabling efficiency electrolysis and shortening the electrolytic time. SOLUTION: At least a surface in contact with the solution of the cathode which is immersed in a cathode side solution in the electrolytic synthesis to electrolyze the cathode side solution is formed of Ag-Sb alloy. The cathode preferably comprises a base material formed of a conductive material such as silver and an Ag-Sb alloy layer to cover at least the surface in contact with the solution, and the Sb content of the Ag-Sb alloy is preferably 0.01-10wt.%.
