PURPOSE: A safe mode control method of a four-wheel drive vehicle is provided to prevent damage of a magnetic clutch at the slip of the magnetic clutch from overload of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: The wheel slip is compared with the permissible slip during driving four wheels(ST4), and driving is controlled with the maximum duty in case of the wheel slip to be over the permissible slip. The wheel slip is compared with the permissible slip after controlling with the maximum duty(ST5,ST6), and time when the wheel slip is more than the permissible slip is compared with the maximum allowable time(ST8). A warning lamp is turned on and safe mode control is performed if the time is more than the maximum allowable time(ST9). The safe mode release time is compared with the safe mode time in controlling with the safe mode duty(ST10). A control unit turns off the warning lamp and controls with the safe mode release duty if the safe mode release time is over the safe mode time, and returns to the normal mode(ST11,ST12). |
