<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive capable of increasing a highly efficient operating range of a motor. <P>SOLUTION: This motor drive comprises a second rectifier 5 for converting alternating current into direct current, a voltage dividing capacitor 6 connected with the second rectifier in parallel, a smoothing capacitor 7 connected with the voltage dividing capacitor in parallel, an inverter 9 which is connected with the smoothing capacitor and supplies driving power to the motor 15, a reactor 2 provided on AC side of the second rectifier; a switching device 4 for shortening and opening alternating current through the reactor, a switch 8 which is connected between the second rectifier and the voltage dividing capacitor and forms a full-wave rectifier circuit in an off state and a voltage doubler rectifier in an on state, and an operating range which keeps the switching device in an off state and the switch in an off state, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
