PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber having a good touch feeling as clothes and exhibiting effective functions for nonclothes applications. SOLUTION: The conjugated fiber is obtained by conjugating a component A composed of a water-soluble thermoplastic polyvinyl alcohol polymer and a component B composed of a thermoplastic polymer having≥160°C melting point. The conjugated fiber is characterized as follows. The component A occupies≥80% of the fiber cross section perimeter of the conjugated fiber and the component B forms protruding parts which are arranged in a number of≥4 in the interface between the components A and B. The ratio of the outer perimeter (L<SB>2</SB>) of the component B to the outer perimeter (L<SB>1</SB>) of the conjugated fiber satisfies formula (1) 1.6≤X/C [wherein, X is the ratio (L<SB>2</SB>/L<SB>1</SB>) of the outer perimeter of the component B to the outer perimeter of the conjugated fiber; and C is the mass conjugation ratio of the component B when the whole conjugated fiber is 1] and a/b≥1.1 when the length of the major axis of the fiber cross section composed of the thermoplastic polymer is a and the length of the minor axis is b.
