PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display image data in a correct direction even when an inserting direction of a document is incorrect, to record the picture data also on a journal recording sheet in the integrated printing direction and to use a substitutive receipt when a receipt part of the document can not be cut off. SOLUTION: Supposing that a document is inserted in a normal inserting direction 603 or in a rotated direction of right 90°604, right 180°605, or right 270°606, the coincidence of each inserting direction with document definition data 602 is checked, so that the definition of the document and the definition of the inserting direction can be simultaneously performed. Thus the segmentation of a correct area, necessary rotation, etc. can be performed by correcting a position for segmenting an image by the defined inserting direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
