PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation rod while suppressing the weight increase, especially capable of increasing stiffness and strength against the left and right directional bending force to reduce the labor load on a worker as less as possible, and at the same time, improving operational property and also hardly causing a bend so as to become impossible to use the rod. SOLUTION: This tubular operation rod (20A) to which a transmission shaft (10) is inserted in, used in a portable type implement such as a bush cutter (1) is provided by installing uneven thickness sections (21, 21) along longitudinal direction at inner surface sides so as to become an outer shape of cross section and an inner shape of cross section become non-similar figures.
