LINE RETROTRANSPOSABLE ELEMENTS WITH RNASE H ENZYME ACTIVITY AND USE OF SAME

The invention relates to long interspersed DNA elements (LINE elements, SEQ ID NO 1) which code for active proteins in the transposition processes thereof and which present RNase H (SEQ ID NO 2) enzyme activity. The LINE elements are found in eukaryotic organisms and, in particular, in humans and also in Trypanosoma cruzi. Said LINE elements can comprise certain modifications that ensure that the RNase H activity is retained. The invention is suitable for use in all biotechnological techniques that require an enzyme with RNase H activity, e.g.: in cDNA gene library generation; in RNA protection analyses; in inhibition of the expression of specific proteins by means of antisense tests; or as a target for pharmaceutical products.
