PURPOSE: A projection display system is provided to efficiently use light by improving polarizing efficiency of light incident into a liquid crystal display from a light source without lowering contrast of an image. CONSTITUTION: A projection display system includes a light source(1) for radiating white light. Non-polarizing light radiated from the light source(1) is converted to have a polarizing component through an illumination system(10). A reflective type display(2) displays an image by receiving polarizing light from the illumination system(10). A projection lens system(4) is provided to project the image displayed by the reflective type display(2) onto a screen(3). The light source(1) has a reflecting plate having an oval shape so as to concentrate light onto the illumination system(10). A color wheel is aligned between the light source(1) and the illumination system(10). |
