<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high numerical aperture/high contrast by restraining a lowering in the display quality of an image formed on a surface to be projected by the effect of faulty orientation caused by a support. <P>SOLUTION: The display device is equipped with a light source 1, an image display panel 2 having a plurality of pixel areas each capable of modulating light, an optical system 4 forming the image on the surface to be projected with the light modulated by the panel 2, and an optical shift element 3 shifting a plurality of field pictures displayed by the panel 2 on the surface to be projected. The same area on the surface to be projected is sequentially irradiated with the light belonging to different wavelength regions modulated in the different pixel areas of the panel 2. The panel 2 is equipped with a plurality of supports for keeping a distance between base plates at a prescribed dimension, and the array pattern of the support is determined based on the shift pattern of pixel by the element 3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
